Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide when you create and use a MadeIt account: your email address, stable account ID, display name, username, and any bio or profile avatar you choose to add. MadeIt uses email and password authentication through Supabase Auth. We do not store your password in plaintext.

We also store the content you create in MadeIt, including recipes, ingredients, instructions, notes, categories, source names and URLs, cover images, and recipe history. If you create a Cook, we may store its title, photos, rating, notes, timing, tags, linked recipe, and historical recipe snapshot. Social information may include comments, replies, likes, saved Cooks, friend requests and friendships, mentions, and notification history and preferences.

To make the service work on your device, MadeIt may keep local information such as sign-in session state, onboarding and password-recovery state, drafts, pending shared-recipe data, notification-navigation state, and image or temporary-file cache data.

We use information to provide and operate MadeIt: to create and secure accounts, display profiles and content, save recipes and Cooks, enable connections and interactions with friends, deliver notifications, support recipe imports, respond to support requests, and maintain the service.

MadeIt currently does not use third-party advertising, sell personal information to advertisers, or use cross-app or cross-web tracking. We may retain limited first-party activity information needed for app functionality, including information used to control notification behavior.

You can import recipes from a website URL, screenshot, camera photo, pasted text, or by entering them step by step. For website imports, we retrieve the source page using Jina Reader and send cleaned page content and relevant URL, domain, and title information to Google Gemini to help extract recipe details. The resulting recipe data may be stored in MadeIt along with source information and, where applicable, a source image URL.

For screenshot, camera, and pasted-text imports, the submitted image or text is sent through MadeIt's backend to Google Gemini to structure recipe information. Screenshot and camera images are resized on-device before they are sent. If you review and save the result, the recipe data is stored in MadeIt. Step-by-step manual entry does not make an AI extraction request.

Screenshot and camera images used for this import flow are not uploaded to MadeIt's Storage. We do not state how Google or Jina may retain or otherwise process information beyond their role in providing these services.

MadeIt may process profile avatars, Cook photos, recipe cover images, recipe screenshots, and camera images used for recipe extraction. Profile avatars, Cook photos, and recipe covers are stored using Supabase Storage. Public recipe covers may be kept separately from a personal recipe's cover so that the public cover can remain available if the personal copy is removed.

Images from website recipe imports may remain remote image URLs rather than being uploaded to MadeIt Storage. Temporary local image and cache files may remain on your device for an unspecified period.

MadeIt is a social service. Profiles are visible to authenticated MadeIt members. Personal Cookbook recipes are currently readable by authenticated members and may appear on public Cookbook surfaces. Canonical MadeIt recipes are also readable by authenticated members.

Cooks, Cook photos, comments, likes, saves, and structured mentions are limited to the owner and accepted friends. Relationship records, notification preferences, push tokens, and notifications are restricted to the appropriate user or participants.

MadeIt maintains a public recipe catalog. Public recipe information may include a recipe's title, ingredients, instructions, category, source information, cover image, and creator attribution. Website recipes may be matched using their source URL, and recipes entered manually can also become public MadeIt recipe records.

When an authorized creator chooses to remove a recipe from MadeIt, it is removed from public discovery. A personal copy another member previously saved may remain independent, and historical connections needed for recipes or Cooks may remain.

With your permission, MadeIt may send push notifications about friend requests and accepted friendships, Cook likes and comments, comment likes and replies, friend Cook activity, and Cook mentions. We store Expo push tokens, platform, notification-enabled state and preferences, and notification activity or history to provide this feature.

You can manage notification permissions through your device and available MadeIt controls.

We share information with service providers that process it on MadeIt's behalf to operate the service, and with other MadeIt members as described in this policy and through the service's visibility settings. We do not currently share personal information for third-party advertising.

MadeIt uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, Storage, Edge Functions, server functionality, and realtime notifications. Google Gemini helps with recipe extraction. Jina Reader helps acquire webpage content for website URL imports. Expo Push Service helps deliver push notifications, including through Apple's push infrastructure for iOS delivery.

We retain information as reasonably necessary to provide and operate MadeIt, until it is deleted or is otherwise no longer required. We do not publish a fixed retention schedule. Provider backups and operational logs may have their own retention practices.

Removing a personal recipe may preserve historical relationships needed by prior Cooks or snapshots. When a Cook is deleted, MadeIt attempts to delete its associated stored media; cleanup of individual media can be best-effort and may not be immediate across every cache, backup, or provider system.

You can use available MadeIt controls to update your profile, delete applicable content, manage notifications, and permanently delete your account. You can also contact MadeIt Support with privacy questions at support@joinmadeit.com.

You can permanently delete your account in the app: Profile → Account & Security → Delete Account. You will be asked to enter your current password before confirming deletion.

Account deletion removes active account and profile information and associated owned data, including owned personal recipes and Cooks, authored comments, likes and saves, friendships, notification preferences and data, push tokens, and user-scoped stored images. Some shared or historical information may remain where needed to preserve other members' content, with references to your deleted account cleared. Public recipe records you originally introduced may remain without your creator attribution.

MadeIt uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. These measures include HTTPS/TLS transport, Supabase Auth, access controls such as Row Level Security, authenticated server operations, private storage where appropriate, signed image URLs, and user-scoped storage paths. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

MadeIt is a general-audience cooking and social service and is not specifically designed for children.

MadeIt and its cloud and service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or legal process; protect the rights, safety, and security of MadeIt, our users, or others; or investigate fraud, abuse, or misuse.

Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, asset sale, or similar business transaction.

We may update this policy as MadeIt changes. When we do, we will post the updated policy here and update its effective date.
